Beside the cave sightseeing and exploration, Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park is also one of the paradise bird watching areas with the most favourite ones such as Chestnut-necklaced Partridge, Red-Collared Woodpecker, Northern Brown Hornbill, Limestone Leaf-warbler, Indochinese Wren-babbler, Sooty Babbler.
National Park, located to the north of the majestic Truong Son range in Central Quang Binh province, is one of the world’s two largest limestone regions. The over 200,000 ha of parkland consists of beautiful limestone formations, grottoes and caves, and boasts lush forestland covering 95 percent of the park area. The area is considered a paradise for explorers and researchers of grottoes and caves, and Vietnamese and British scientists have so far surveyed 20 with a total length of 70km. Of them, 17 are in the Phong Nha area and three in the Ke Bang area.
Calocedrus Rupestris (threatenedconifers.rbge.org.u) 96.2% of the acreage of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park is covered by forest with moist evergreen forests and jungle. The vegetation here mainly consists of rock green cypress (Calocedrus rupestris) that are 500 years old and unique in Vietnam. It is also home to 3 rare Jade Slipper Orchid species: Paphiopedilum malipoense, Paphiopedilum Jade Slipper Orchid Dianthum and Paphiopedilum concolor. These orchids are at risk of extinction, therefore they area is being perserved as much as possible. When visiting Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, visitors can also see ironwood, pine and other kinds of trees and flowers that grow in every corner of the park.
Ha Tinh Langur (jalbum.net) Beside the rare flora, Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park is home to 140 mammal species belonging to 31 families and 10 orders. There are many species in Vietnam and they have been documented in the Red Book and World Red Book. In particular, the rare animal species Ha Tinh langur, shanked Douc … that are currently at risk of extinction and being actively protected in Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park.
Hang Toi (Dark cave) is a branch of Phong Nha cave system with 5,558m long and 80m high; the entry of cave is 30m high and 10m wide with heavy forest around the cave mouth. Dark Cave was discovered in the years of Vietnam war by local people and used as a bomb shelter
Hang Toi has a primitive beauty with thousands of several spectacular stalagmite and stalactites. This is a shelter of many species of animals like bat and swift, especially, Ha Tinh langur – one of primate species listed in the Vietnam Red Data Book. Especially, Mr. L.Deharveng, a Russian scientist, on January 9th 1995, collected, discovered and proclaimed a specimen of a species of new crab (called Nemoron nomas) in Dark Cave. This specimen is now being kept in the Museum of Zoology, the National University of Singapore.

Trek through the Mooc Spring Eco Area from Km11 – Km14 of Ho Chi Minh Trail to watch birds and some rare animals of the National Park such as Voc Ha Tinh
Have a picnic breakfast and lunch along the way
Eplore the amazing Dark Cave with 400m long zipline, kayak on Chay River and play some funny games there for relaxing
16:00 pm – 17:00 pm transfer back to Dong Hoi City / Train station
